Background

PEG-MGF is a pegylated synthetic analog of Mechano Growth Factor, a splice variant of insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1Ec) expressed transiently in skeletal muscle after mechanical loading or injury. Pegylation extends its half-life relative to native MGF, which is rapidly cleared.

Mechanism of Action

MGF's unique E-domain peptide is thought to activate quiescent satellite cells, drive myoblast proliferation, and delay differentiation — expanding the regenerative pool available for muscle repair. It is studied as a non-systemic signal of mechanical-load–induced remodeling.
